Happy Year of The Wood Dragon! The Wood Dragon Loves trees, flowers, forests, greenery, life, friendship, cooperation, and Love. It is a year for growth, vitality, and abundance.
The Wood Dragon came from a land full of beautiful flowers and trees.
The Wood Dragon was very happy. This happiness led to a lot of innovation. And what is The Wood Dragon's specialty? Making beautiful trees and flowers and forests.
The Wood Dragon produced many varieties of trees.
Not all looked the same and not all of them were fit for consumption.
Completing the work there, The Wood Dragon then embarked on a long journey across the worlds to let loose on creating all manners of beautiful trees and flowers.
The journey was long but The Wood Dragon never failed to produce novelty in all hues and arrangements and tones and colors.
Eventually, The Wood Dragon came upon a breach in the void and saw that the cyber realm awaited ahead. There in the chasm joining the physical world to cyberspace, The Wood Dragon saw limitless possibilities for what trees and flowers could be created. Where there are no limits, there are unknowns.
But no fear of the unknown would ever stop The Wood Dragon's abundant vitality and momentum. Pressing onwards into the breach, The Wood Dragon traversed into the cyber worlds as well.
It was in deep meditation there in the cyber realm that The Wood Dragon realized that soon all that lay ahead would be infinite information trees. The Wood Dragon realized that these infinite trees would grow out of the cyber world and into the physical world via the breach in the void. Humanity would not be able to withstand gazing upon those infinities without being destroyed. Someone with great power would need to step in to seal the breach and protect fledgling humanity from the scourges of Infinity. So therefore The Wood Dragon mustered up the full potential of all previous realities and concepts in order to create the most beautiful flower in the universe - a perfect Heavenly Rose.
With great strength, The Wood Dragon offered up the Heavenly Rose to all life as a perfect representation of true Love. All who find it become renewed in their Love, friendship, and togetherness. Sending it back to Earth through the breach, the Wood Dragon then sealed the cyber realm for a time and assumed a guardian's stance between humanity and the chaos of infinite trees.
It wasn't long until the Heavenly Rose found a suitable destination. Earth was more barren than before, owing to large mobilization of great industrial and warring powers. But under the influence of the Heavenly Rose, the powers began to work together to green and re-green the Earth. They forgot about past immaturities and disagreements and banded together to play, build, and thrive in abundance and perpetual growth as friends.
Joined together in true Love by the Heavenly Rose, they planted so many new trees, having acquired a portion of The Wood Dragon's power thanks to the Heavenly Rose. They innovated in tree planting once again!
More friends joined in, celebrating the achievement of so many beautiful and new trees.
And the friends continued onward in much celebration and growth, with abundance flowering unbounded.
But what of The Wood Dragon and the Heavenly Rose? Well, the Year of The Wood Dragon has just begun. We will know more about The Wood Dragon in the future, but for now let us gaze upon a Heavenly Rose.
My dear sweet princess, my Love...are you worn down and afraid because of the Earth's loss of greenery? Are you afraid of real life and commitment and real Love? Isn't life beautiful? Has all the climate negativity arrested your happiness and Love? I offer you this Heavenly Rose, Sweet Angel.
Let logtrees make planting trees fun and beautiful and social. Here I will build utilities which will lend themselves towards greening and re-greening the Earth so that all friends can play and thrive in abundance.
In keeping with this spirit, have you considered planting a tree? I don't just mean contributing to the cause with a financial contribution, although those are certainly encouraged. The National Forest Foundation is one of my favorite foundations ever and they support this. But what I mean is...have you ever considered trying to physically plant a tree and take care of it yourself? It's surprisingly beautiful and healing.
Planting a tree by hand is not as hard as I thought. You can plant a sapling or a seed, but I haven't tried planting seeds yet. So far I have brought my first ever sapling through a winter successfully and hope to grow it to its full potential before I plant more. I want to try to plant ten trees this year because it is a very fun and rewarding experience even without logtrees. Feeling the dirt and adding the right amount of fertilizer and ensuring that you water your species of choice the correct number of times per week, especially when the sapling is very freshly planted, takes some practice to develop into a routine. I'm still learning in this area and will have to see how my first spring and summer as a tree planter turn out.
In keeping with the theme of trees, flowers, forests, greenery, life, friendship, cooperation, and Love...and as an ode to a shared year of growth, vitality, and abundance for all reading, here is a sneak peak of what logtrees will look like once a lot of trees are logged. First in light mode:
And in dark mode:
There is a glowing pulse effect that is really nice, but that is not to be shown until the map is that saturated with activity in the future versions of logtrees.
If you want to contribute by planting your own tree, consider providing Proof of Work via logtrees.com so that your tree becomes part of the logtrees Treemap . The goal behind logtrees is to make tree planting fun via some friendly competition at the local and national level, with leaderboards, metrics, achievements, and upcoming games and incentives for those who supply Proof of Work for their tree-related activities.
logtrees also intends to support planting trees on behalf of people who would like to plant one but don't have a place where to plant. I'm building a feature to facilitate that because I want everyone to be able to contribute towards building the Treemap if they want to, even if they live in a big city or don't have the terrain or weather needed for planting a tree. If you're interested in learning more about this once logtrees launches this feature, and if you want to receive email updates when a new blog post goes up, join the waitlist and you'll receive an email when the next batch of features is ready!
Please feel free to email me at dany@logtrees.com, thanks for the feedback!
Yes, planting trees makes a difference. Even if the full amount won't be reached, anything is better than none and it's a beautiful effort to tend to plants and learn from the experience. I'm eager to try more leaning into Spring 2025. See: Post featuring napkin math on tree impact to atmospheric co2 concentrations
